HARRIET
Mesquite, TX

Posted: 9/21/08
Status: Adopted   2009-05-27 12:39:07;

Age: 5 years
Gender: Female
Color: Liver and White
Variety: ESS-Cocker Mix

Harriet is sweet, loving, and always looking for a toy to play with. She loves to go outside and have a toy thrown so she can chase it down and bring it back. Her growl sounds ferocious, but she is all about playing. She believes that everyone wants her toys. Of course Ozzie will come steal it from her just to upset her. It works. She will bark and try to get it back.

Harriet's attention may seem to be all on toys, but she is very much aware of where you are. She will come see you once she has chewed, squeaked, and tossed around her toy of choice for awhile. She loves to roll over so you can rub her belly. It doesn't matter if she knows you or not, you are expected to be ready to give her attention. She loves people.

Harriet also notices birds. She will take off trying to get a bird. She has yet to be successful but loves to try. She took off after a cat one day, but as soon as she got near it, and it hissed, she took off running. The cat chased her for awhile. She also pretends to be brave and barks at cows. If the cow walks in her direction though, she will try to get behind you and still appear brave.

When Harriet came to us, she didn't have very much fur. It looked like mange, but as it turned out, it was severe skin allergies. Her fur is growing back really pretty. She looks so much better. Our neighbors constantly say they can't believe it's the same dog. She was also heartworm positive and has gone through treatment.

She is a bundle of energy and needs a large yard to play in. She is crate trained and is very good about getting in her crate when you tell her to. She is also house trained. Since day one, she has never had an accident in the house.

Harriet and Ozzie both are perfect travelers. They will jump in the car into their crates and don't make a noise. Even on long trips, they are perfect angels. They are also very good when you give them a bath. Harriet is a little more impatient than Ozzie, but does good.

Harriet and Ozzie are very close. They showed up together and do not like being apart. Harriet will cry if Ozzie goes outside and she doesn't. Now if she goes outside without him, sometimes she will take care of business, but often she just goes back to the door wanting in. She can hear him crying.

Mollie is very loving and playful, she craves petting and attention.

Mollie loves to play fetch and to chew on squeaky toys. Because she is still a puppy, she loves to chew apart stuffed toys and toss the stuffing around. She walks well on a leash and is working on basics, such as sitting on command. Mollie gets along well with other dogs. She sniffs at cats but leaves them alone if told.

She is almost completely house trained, but you'll need to learn her signals. She's a bit insecure now, and likes to have you walk outside with her, but this will probably cease once she feels secure.

OZZIE
Mesquite, TX

Posted: 9/21/08
Status: Adopted   2009-05-27 12:38:44;

Age: 5 years
Gender: Male
Color: Liver and White
Variety: ESS-Cocker Mix

The word that people who meet Ozzie always use is “sweet”. He loves to play, but after a short time, he would rather come stand next to you. If you sit down, expect him to be at your feet or trying to get in your lap. He truly enjoys just being near his chosen one. When you see him look lovingly in your eyes, you will be hooked.

Ozzie came to us with some skin allergies and heartworms. He most likely will always need a supplement to help with his skin sensitivities. He went through heartworm treatment and seems to be on his way to good health.

Although Ozzie is not fond of the crate, he is crate trained. He is also house trained. He had a couple of accidents early on, but there have been no issues at all since. He will bark and let you know if he really needs to go outside. He isn’t to the point yet of going to the door. He prefers to communicate verbally at the moment.

Ozzie is very good with kids. He will growl with a toy but is careful to not hurt anyone. The only concern might be that he still likes to jump up on people, so a small child might get knocked down.

Ozzie and Harriet both are perfect travelers. They will jump in the car into their crates and don’t make a noise. Even on long trips, they are perfect angels. They are also very good when you give them a bath. Ozzie is very patient as you bathe him.

Ozzie is very close to Harriet. They showed up together and do not like being apart. Even if Ozzie goes outside and Harriet is inside, he can’t focus on anything other than the fact that Harriet is not with him. She will howl inside because he is not there, and he will be at the door wanting in to check on her.

If you are looking for a pair of sweet, playful, and loyal babies, Ozzie and Harriet will melt your heart. As the foster mom I can tell you that they are truly special and need a “furever” home. They are waiting for someone that will take care of them always.

SAM

Status: Adopted   2009-05-28 18:38:55;

Age: 2 years
Weight: 44 lbs
Gender: Male
Color: Black & White
Variety: Mix

Sam has the cutest face imaginable and loves his tennis football. Is that a sweet face or what? The soft speckled nose and feet are classic spaniel and we think they make him look like a puppy even though he's over one year old now. His tail is lethal when he’s excited (which is all the time).

Sam is a great medium sized guy who is healthy and active. He needs plenty of exercise and attention. He gets along great with his Siberian Husky pals and all the other dogs he's met.

He loves the local kids who come to play with him and he goes crazy over sticks. He's ready for any kind of fun. Sam will sit on command and shake if you ask. He is also crate trained.

Sam is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines, including bordatella. Sam is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained, crate trained, and neutered.

SKIPPY
Burbank, CA

Posted: 5/18/09
Status: Adopted   2009-07-12 20:10:18;

Age: 3 years
Gender: Male
Color: Orange & White
Variety: Mix

Skippy was given up in a divorce. He is looking for his second chance at love and a stable home.

Skippy is a little lover, he's very social and likes attention. He's wags his whole body when he's happy. He has very good household manners. He'd do best in a home where someone is around most of the time.

Skippy's a little nervous around other dogs (he was attacked by one). He'd do best in a home with older children and adults. If he were to live with another dog a mellow calm personality would make him feel safe. You can see by the look on his face that he's worried about his life and we've promised him it will get better.

Skippy is neutered, vaccinated, micro chipped and obedience trained. Can you open your heart and home to him? In return you will get a life time of unconditional love and devotion!

Attention anyone looking for a perfect family companion. Snoopy is that dog. He is not a chewer, loves kids, is playful and energetic but calm and affectionate. He loves to go for walks but will happily lay at your feet at the end of a day. He is good with other dogs. We have not seen him with cats, however guess that he would be fine with them. He has a gentle, easygoing nature that loves everyone.

Snoopy is up to date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered.

Status: Adopted   2009-05-31 16:51:14;

Age: 4 years
Gender: Male
Color: Black & White

Spencer is a very affectionate dog and knows how to sit, shake, come and lay down. He loves women and children, but is afraid of men. He gets on well with calm dogs, but doesn't like active puppies or cats.

Spencer needs some work on his housetraining; he wets when he is afraid or too excited. Also, he does not like to be alone. He would do well with a gentle owner who will keep him inside and work with him.

Spencer is up to date on shots.

Teddy was adopted from PAWS as a pup and the couple who adopted him split up ... The man returned him in tears as he simple couldn’t afford him on just one income.

TOMMY
Addison, IL

Posted: 5/11/09
Status: Adopted   2009-08-10 17:33:10;

Age: 7 years
Weight: 42 lbs
Gender: Male
Color: Tricolor
Variety: Mix

Tommy's owner passed away, leaving him behind. He's very affectionate, a champion snuggler. He is friendly with visitors, but often aloof at first. He gets stressed around smaller children, so older kids or no kids would be best.

Tommy is an extremely active boy. He loves to run in the yard and needs the exercise, so a large yard is a must. He’s not a fence jumper, and is doing great with a 42 inch chain link fence.

He gets along fine with the other dogs. He’s a very confident and independent. He would be fine as an only dog, or with others that are easy going, friendly and not too dominant. Tommy doesn’t mind sharing attention with other dogs, but seldom plays with them.

Tommy walks wonderfully on an English Sliplead. He is crate trained and fully house trained.

WINSTON
Minneapolis, MN

Posted: 4/20/09
Status: Adopted   2009-06-19 15:23:25;

Age: 3 years
Weight: 45 lbs
Gender: Male
Color: Liver & White
Variety: Purebred

Named after one of the worlds greatest men, Winston is a chip off the old block as far as being great. He is gentle, loves, loves, loves people of all ages (kids, too), and thoroughly enjoys having a canine pal. In fact, another dog in the house is close to the top of Winstons wish list.

Winston runs like the wind -- and then run some more. Which makes a fenced yard an absolute must. Despite his sporting nature, he doesn't like the loud noises guns make, so retrieving his ball or squeaky toy is about all Winston is interested in fetching.

Winston is perfectly housetrained, crate trained and thinks riding in the car is really fun. He is not a jumper, so should be fine around small kids as well as older. He's generally a quiet guy, not prone to barking. Just the kind of guy who would fit perfectly into an active familys life. Got extra room in your house for Winston?

Winston's adoption fee includes neuter, heartworm check, current vaccinations, microchip, and registration.

Due to post-adoption services provided, it is Pet Haven's policy to only place dogs into homes within a 60-mile radius of the Twin Cities area.

ZANDER
Appleton, WI

Posted: 2/24/09
Status: Adopted   2009-08-10 17:36:35;

Age: 4 years
Gender: Male
Color: Black & White
Variety: Mix

Here's Zander! Zander is a sweet and laid back. He respects cats, is house trained, affectionate, listens well, and walks ok on leash. Zander sits for treats, loves car rides, doesn't mind his ears, teeth or nails checked. He's affectionate and is okay about sleeping in a crate, though we suspect he'd prefer to sleep near people.

Zander can be aggressive towards other dogs, especially on leash. He'd be protective of his new family when other dogs are concerned. He should probably be an only dog and go to a home with experienced dog owners. He has all his shots, is heartworm negative, and is microchipped.
