ESRA Board Candidate
Nancy Remmers

My name is Nancy Remmers. I am a proud member of ESRA since 2004 - the finest rescue organization in the nation. I am honored to run for re-election for the Board of Directors.

My comprehensive experience which I will bring to the Board if reelected:

Grateful Adopter : My little Springer family consists of three ESRA Springers (Annabelle, 7, Sweetie 4 and Kit 1). My lovely thirteen-year-old ESS, Lily (a long-time dedicated ESRA volunteer) just recently went to the bridge. Even though I am broken hearted by her loss, I gratefully have my three rescue girls to help me heal the pain.

Foster Home: I have been a foster home to our ESRA springers since 2004.

V.P. Southeastern Region:
and all that the job entails.

Intake Management
: Texas has consistently had the highest intake of dogs over the past few years. I have coordinated, evaluated and taken in hundreds of our dogs into our program. By sheer volume, we feel that we have seen and heard it all, both medically and behaviorally – or sometimes it certainly feels that way :-)

Medical Case Management : I have managed the medical care of hundreds of our dogs, from vaccinations to serious cases such as canine influenza to bizarre maladies like dogs shot with guns and dogs that were fed gunpowder by their owners to get rid of worms.

Heartworm Challenges : Texas manages over fifty dogs a year through at least 90 days heartworm treatment residing in foster homes. I have taken many, many dogs through heartworm treatment.

Applicant Review : I have reviewed, interviewed and approved countless applicants including their veterinary checks and home visits. Some applicants are denied, and then it is part of my job to deal with the fall-out from that rejection. Not a fun job, but necessary.

Placement of our Springers : My philosophy is to “place the right dog in the right home.” Placement of our dogs in a home where they can thrive and are well-loved is the most serious, careful, thoughtful and important decision of all. A well-placed and happy ESRA Springer is my goal and my greatest reward. I have placed hundreds of Springers in happy, Forever Homes. See their happy faces here: http://www.springerrescuetexas.org/7.html

Shelter Liaison : I interact with shelters all over the vast state of Texas to create a rescue relationship and assist them in breed identification. A thorough shelter network in Texas has been created.

Membership Recruiter/Fundraiser/Texas Transport Volunteer

Veterinary Liaison : I network within the Texas veterinary community to find the best prices and vet care possible for our rescue dogs.

Springer Photographer and Marketer : Texas posts portrait-like photos with compelling multi-media bios to help place our dogs.

Website : Creator and designer of a Texas website directly linked to our national site. It is used as follow-up tool for our dogs and adopters and it is another avenue to rescue Springers in need. Please visit Springer Rescue – Texas Style : www.SpringerRescueTexas.org

When facing issues, problems or initiatives, I will always express my point of view with tact and professionalism, but always with our dogs and this organizations' best interest in mind.

Springer Rescue is my passion. I would respectfully ask for your vote for re-election. I will represent you and our dogs to the best of my ability and from the vantage point of a rescuer actively working in one of the largest and highest-volume states and the VP of a very busy region. I will continue to be a tireless advocate for the dogs that we all love. My voice on the board will be that of an experienced, enthusiastic, “fresh from the trenches” rescuer, foster home, volunteer, adopter, and champion for our rescued Springers.

I will give it my all and I am ready to do so.

Sincerely,
