SPRINGER FOSTER PARENTS NEEDED!!
Do you have room in your home and your heart for a Springer in need?
We pay for necessary veterinary expenses, including heartworm medications
and flea prevention. We ask that you provide food, toys, lots of love,
a kind hand, and a safe home in which a Springer can live temporarily
while we seek that perfect Forever Home for him or her.
We do not have a shelter or kennel, and our ability to continue
rescuing depends on whether we have a place for the dogs to stay
when they are released to our rescue group. We exist entirely on
donations and adoption fees, so it is difficult for us to board
an animal in a kennel or vet's office since most foster dogs are
in our care for 2 to 6 weeks.
If you give a rescue dog a temporary home, not only will you save
a life, you will vastly improve your own. People who love animals
live longer, healthier lives and you'll redecorate your home with
fur for free!
If you will consider helping our dogs, please fill out our Foster
Home Application
or contact your state's
coordinator
Thank you for helping in any way you can.

ESRA is not aware of any Springers in need of homes
in Alaska at this time. Many state coordinators have dogs that are
not yet on the website as these dogs are still in the evaluation
phase of their time with ESRA.

ESRA # 2008-0212AZ
Age: 1 year
Gender: Male
Color: Liver/White
Weight: 40 lbs.
Variety: Field-bred
I am a big boy, but don't let that fool you. I am so full of love and affection, and I really need someone special to give that to me. My Dad passed away a while ago and I ended up with ESRA, as his relatives wanted to be sure I found a perfect home. I miss him a lot, as we had such a good time hanging out together.
My new foster home has several dogs living there, as well as cats, and I am getting along with everyone. I probably will need some obedience training, but they say I am smart, so that should be fun. I am young, so can give my new family many years of love and companionship. Won't you let me be part of your family?

ESRA # 2008-0191AZ
Age: 11 years
Gender: Male
Color: Liver/White
Weight: ?? lbs.
Variety: Field-bred
I might be eleven years old, but I heard someone say that I was the Jack LaLanne of Springers. I love, LOVE to play fetch with my tennis ball. If my foster mom even looks like she is going outside, I run to the place where my tennis balls are kept and wiggle my entire body until she throws one out into the yard for me! If it should just happen to get into the pool, I will use my paw to fetch it out. BUT if it is too far into the pool, I just jump in and retrieve it. It is so much fun.
My foster mom says I am one of the sweetest-tempered dogs she's ever had . - one big bundle of love. I am house-trained and don't give a hoot about her cats - they just crouch down when I walk by, and after one sniff I'm gone. People are much MORE fun to play with. Once I get a good bath and a haircut, I will be the most handsome dog in the neighborhood! I have so much energy I would love to share it with your family.

WOODY
Phoenix, AZ

ESRA # 2008-0190AZ
Age: 4 years
Gender: Male
Color: Liver/White
Weight: 42 lbs.
Variety: Bench/Show-bred
Hi everyone,
I have been moved to a new foster home, and my foster Dad has been working with me the last couple of weeks. He says I am pretty shy at first when introduced to a new environment, but once I get to know you, I am a Velcro Dog.
I am learning commands, and how to play ball. It has taken me a little while, but I figured it out, and I am now bringing the ball back. I am looking at this nice pool we have in the backyard, and one of these days (when it gets a little warmer), I am planning on jumping in. I'd like to have my foster Dad try it out with me the first time.
While I was raised around children, and they were a little older. I haven't been tested with young toddlers, so I probably wouldn't do too well with them, as I am very fast on my feet, and have to see every thing that is going on. I wouldn't want to make them fall as I am running to see what is happening.
I was raised with other dogs, and at my last foster home there were three of us. I think once I would get to know that the other dog was friendly, I would be okay.
I still do need some more obedience training, but Dad and I are working on that every day.

MOCHA
Phoenix, AZ

|
ESRA # 2007-836AZ
Age: 1 year
Gender: Female
Color: Liver/White
Weight: 32 lbs.
Variety: Field-bred
Mocha is my name and I am looking for a special home that will love me and take care of me forever. In return, I have many good years of devotion for just the right person.
My foster mom says I'm endearing whatever that means! I love to be with people and would thrive in a home where someone was home a lot. I have this quirky thing about lights and shadows. Some people call it an obsession, others think it is cute. One ESRA adopter that adopted a dog with this problem says by working with him, he is 90% better and it is a small nuisance to put up with in return for his faithful companionship.
Foster mom again: She's a great dog and is showing lots of improvement in a structured environment. Although the light chasing can be challenging, exercise and a job (agility anyone?) would be a great thing for this little dog. She loves her trips to the dog park and daily exercise would be a key to handling this sweet young girl.
So if you have time and patience and lots of love, don't be afraid to come and visit me and see what a great little female I am. I am waiting just for you!

 CHARLIE
Phoenix, AZ

|
ESRA # 2007-1062AZ
Age: 5 years
Gender: Male
Color: Liver/White
Weight: 44 lbs.
Variety: Field-bred
I'm Charlie. My sister, Katie, listed below and I were given up by a family who just didn't have time to spend with us. We have always been outside dogs, until ESRA took us in. We were quick to learn how nice the inside is. I already know about this thing that is a hole in the wall - I guess they call it a doggie door. Any way, I have learned how to use it and am adjusting to life inside. I am pretty much housetrained, and am pretty good on a leash. I have been with Katie most of her life. My previous owners got me to keep Katie company since she was so lonesome being outside with no one to play with. Since Katie became my sister, I appointed myself her guardian and protector. I have a great temperament, but just feel a fellow has to watch out for his sister. I do need some obedience training, but I am good with kids.
Foster Mom says: Charlie is a big boy and needs to learn not to jump. Older kids would be best. He has one trait that is typically Springer - he counter-surfs, but that is easy to stop. (Just don't leave any food out that he might get!) Foster mom says a sweeter guy you won't find.
Please consider adopting both Charlie and Katie. They are a bonded pair and will give you many years of devotion.

 KATIE
Phoenix, AZ

|
ESRA # 2007-1063AZ
Age: 8 years
Gender: Female
Color: Liver/White
Weight: 43 lbs.
Variety: Field-bred
I am Katie, and have a long tail. At the age of eight I still live a very active life. I get along with everyone. I love kids and older people and I don't jump up at all! Like Charlie, I love living in a real home. At my foster home we have 5 other dogs, and I get along very well with them all. I like to sort of boss Charlie around, and he let's me do it as he knows I am just talking and want some attention. And does he ever give it to me. He is a great brother. Even though, I do have some problems with my hips, you should see me play ball and jump for it. My foster Mom says she can't even jump up that far. I also love stuffed toys and balls and get as many in my mouth as a Springer possibly can.
Foster Mom says: Katie is a great dog. It appears that she may have had some knee issues in the past, and her hips aren't in the best condition, but that doesn't stop her from living a very active life. Katie and Charlie should be placed together.
For more information about Charlie and Katie, please have an approved application on file.

SHEILA
Apache Junction, AZ

|
ESRA #2007-1016AZ
Age: Senior
Gender: Female
Color: Liver/White
Weight: 45 lbs.
Variety: Bench/Show-bred
Sheila is a sweet old gal who wandered (or was dumped) in the desert. The vet says she seems healthy for her age, although she has some of the usual bumps, warts, hearing and mobility problems of a senior dog. She has responded to medication to help her get around better, and she's adjusted to life in her foster home with three smaller dogs. She likes to hog the food and might have an issue sharing if a larger dog challenged her over it, but has no problems with the little dogs. Sheila is housetrained, although having someone home most of the time helps her remember to go outside. She sleeps through the night just fine. She loves to have her soft coat patted and will give you her paw to shake when you pat her. She'd be the ideal companion for a retired person or couple with a quiet lifestyle. If you can give Sheila a forever home for her golden years, please submit your application.

DALI
Hemet, CA

|
ESRA #2008-0360CA
Age: 3 years
Gender: Female
Color: Black/White
Weight: 40 lbs.
Variety: Bench/Show-bred
Hi! Aren't I a pretty little girl? My name is Dali and I am looking for a new Forever Home. I am a very gentle young Springer, and don't get into things that I shouldn't. I am very good with the resident dogs, and absolutely love their rough and tumble play. I share their toys nicely, and show no aggression over toys or food. My foster Mom says I have very good manners. I know how to Sit, Lie down, Shake, and in the past week have learned to sit for cuddles, and am doing pretty good at not jumping on people any more. My favorite thing in the whole wide world, though, is a nice, long belly rub! Oh my, that feels sooooo good.
Foster Mom: Dali is a true lady with impeccable manners - both in the house and outside. She is housetrained, walks very nicely on a leash, and knows basic commands. Dali is shy around new people but warms up quickly and enjoys getting cuddles and belly rubs from everyone.
Dali is a true joy to have around. She has a true Springer personality - exuberant, joyful and carefree. She does not chew, dig holes or get into things she shouldn't. Dali is very active and enjoys rough and tumble play with the resident dogs, but calms down nicely for cuddles and belly rubs. If you are looking for a lap dog or just someone to hang out with, Dali would be more than happy to accommodate you! Dali is a very quick learner and seemed to fit right into our routine from the first.
Dali loves people of all ages and would do best in an active family. She needs lots of exercise and would enjoy a family that hikes or takes long walks every day. Dali would also enjoy having another active, non-aggressive dog to play with.
Dali is housetrained, up to date on her shots, is microchipped, and has been spayed. She is a healthy, happy, wonderful girl, looking for a fun, loving Forever Family to belong to. Do you have time to devote to Dali and a place in your heart and family for this affectionate young girl? If so, please have an approved application on file and be prepared to fall in love.

CHULA
Oxnard, CA

|
ESRA #2007-795CA
Age: 6 years
Gender: Female
Color: Liver/White
Weight: 47 lbs.
Variety: Bench/Show-bred
Chula, thru no fault of her own, is looking for a Forever Family. Her family decided to move to Mexico and couldn't take her with them. They took her to the shelter where a nice rescue person took her directly from the family and then called ESRA.
At one time the family must have thought a lot of her because they gave her the name Chula, which means beautiful in Spanish. Chula came to us only knowing Spanish but has learned English quickly. You could say she is bi-lingual.
Her foster Dad says she is a real lady that will follow you everywhere. She has a mellow, low activity personality and loves to cuddle. She is a good watchdog and will alert you to strangers or strange sounds.
Chula is good with other dogs but would prefer to be the only one because she likes all the attention. Is fine with kids and when tested with the neighbor's cat just walked away from it with little interest. She has great house manners and rides well in a car. She enjoys walks. She knows some commands like Sit, Stay etc.
If you think Chula might be the right dog for your family please have a preliminarily approved application on file and then contact her case manager. .

LOGAN
Antioch, CA

|
ESRA #2008-0356CA
Age: 7 years
Gender: Male
Color: Liver/White
Weight: 71 lbs.
Variety: Bench/Show-bred
Logan was recently found running loose in the hills above Port Costa. The family that found and took him in couldn't keep him so put out a request to rescue. When found, Logan was heavily matted, had VERY stinky ears, and had patches of hair missing, not to mention he was very overweight.
Logan is a beautiful boy with lots of freckling. He has a sweet disposition, is reported to be fine with other dogs and cats though it is felt he would probably like to be the only dog. He loves to ride in a vehicle and will readily go in a crate as long as he can see the world go by outside. Someone did take the time to train him as he knows Sit, Shake and Down. He is also housebroken and sleeps through the night on a quilt by his foster mom's bed. He would probably be even happier sleeping on the bed but his present weight prevents him from doing so.
Logan has been fully vetted, is heartworm negative, and is currently on antibiotics for his ear and skin issues. He also has ointment put in his ears twice a day to help with the infection. Logan does have some separation anxiety, so would do best with someone who is home during the day or who could take him to work with them. Logan's ideal weight should be 50 to 55 pounds, so he would need to be put on a diet and get lots of exercise.
Logan looks forward to meeting you and to finding his Forever Home.

 GRACIE
Lockwood, CA

|
ESRA #2008-0346CA
Age: 3 years
Gender: Female
Color: Black/White
Weight: 51 lbs.
Variety: Bench/Show-bred
Gracie will tell you. She wants a best friend, fovever! Her owners dumped her in a shelter because they were moving. It was a rough week. She was spayed, and had a minor hernia repair. She had a foxtail in one ear, and ear infections. Now, she's settling in at her foster home. She wants to be petted and cuddled. She wants to be your best friend!
Ever thought you wanted a black/white bench-bred Springer? Here's your girl! She gets along well with other dogs and the resident cat. Gracie loves people, and just wants to lean into you and be your companion. She's untested with children at this time. It doesn't appear that she's had much training, but she's very anxious to please.
This beautiful girl is in good health and condition. She's microchipped, heartworm free, and ready to begin a happy, secure life. She rides very well in the car, and is crate trained. While she does well with other dogs, we think she could be happy being an only dog with stay-at-home people.
Gracie is here waiting for you. For more information please have a preliminarily approved application on file, and contact her foster home.

 COOKIE
Westlake Village, CA

|
ESRA #2008-0310CA
Age: 18 months
Gender: Male
Color: Liver/White
Weight: 50 lbs.
Variety: Bench/Show-bred
Hi! My name is Cookie, short for Cookie Monster. I was rescued from a shelter in Pahrump, Nevada when I was just a puppy. I had a great life on an acre in Pahrump with my mom and her 2 other dogs, until a few weeks ago when she suddenly passed away. My mom's sister took my 2 brothers and I'm staying with my mom's mother.
Case Manager says: Cookie's foster mom adores him and would love to keep him, but feels he should live with a young family. He's a big, gorgeous boy with a beautiful long full tail that wags almost constantly, and he loves everyone he meets. As of this writing he's been in his foster home for about a week, where he's living with a female Lab mix. They get along, but Cookie is wanting lots of attention, and that's taken away some of the resident dog's attention. We don't know whether Cookie wants to be an alpha dog, or is just (understandably) feeling a bit insecure with what he's been through. There have been no incidents between the dogs, though. He's a typical Springer who wants to be near his person, whether it be cuddled in their lap, next to them on the couch, or in bed at night.
Being young and energetic, Cookie would be happiest with an active family. Children in the family aren't necessary, but would be wonderful because he loves the grandkids who come to visit in his current home. Because of his size and exuberence, though, we feel children ten or older would be best.
Cookie is housetrained, up to date on vaccinations, and will be microchipped prior to adoption. He doesn't dig or chew, isn't destructive in the house, and doesn't have separation anxiety. He's learning some new commands (like Sit and Stay), but pulls on his leash. He'd benefit from an obedience class, which would also be a good bonding experience for him and his new owner.
This is a great dog, who will be a wonderful family pet for many years. Do you think he'd fit into your home and life? If so, please have an approved adoption application on file, and then contact his case manager.

LUCY
Citrus Heights, CA

|
ESRA #2008-0174CA
Age: 2 years
Gender: Female
Color: Liver/White
Weight: 38 lbs.
Variety: Field-bred
Lucy is an amazing young lady. She was born blind, in that both retina's are detached. She, however, can see shadows and adapted well to her surrounding with her limited sight. She uses her other senses, as humans do, to find her way around and live a normal life in her foster homes. Yes, she has 2 foster homes and has adjusted quickly to the surroundings in both. Other that being sight challenged she is perfectly healthy in every other respect.
Lucy is housetrained and goes outside by herself. She is a very friendly good natured girl. She loves to cuddle and loves everyone she meets human or canine. She has even been seen playing by herself with a ball she found in the back yard, throwing it up in the air. Maybe one of the balls that light up would be a good toy for her.
She will need eye drops and ointment twice daily to keep her eye pressure stable. This will help her keep the sight that she does have. Her new family should be committed to maintaining her medicine for the rest of her life.
To learn more about blind dogs and how amazing they are, check out www.blinddogs.net
She is looking for a home where someone is around much of the time. Because she is sight challenged another submissive dog would also be nice in that it may become her guide dog.
If you would like to find out more about Lucy, please have preliminarily approved application on file and then contact her case manager.

DODGER
Stanton, CA

 |
ESRA #2008-0241CA
Age: 2 years
Gender: Male
Color: Liver/White
Weight: 40 lbs.
Variety: Bench/Show-bred
Dodger can best be described as a true Velcro Springer, and will follow his current foster Mom like a shadow. He is timid of new people, but warms up quickly. He and his son, Pup Pup, were relinquished to ESRA to find new homes.
Dodger came from Arizona as a puppy, and has lived on a farm where they raise pigmy goats. He lived with several other dogs, cats, and children. He is fine with them all, but prefers female dogs.
He was an outside dog, but seems to be housetrained at his current residence.
He is a smart boy, learns easily, and is eager to please.
Dodger is neutered, current on shots, and micro-chipped. He rides well in a car, and loves to snuggle. When he first came to us, he wasn't interested in playing with balls, toys, or treats, but that has changed the more we get to know him.
Now that he has settled in to his foster residence, he is starting to run around and fetch the ball. He has become more outgoing, but still loves to cuddle.
He is a young dog, with a medium energy level, and is looking forward to going places and learning new things.
He'd like a family that is active, attentive, and willing to teach him about the great life waiting for him. He has never had an obedience class, but would really enjoy going to one or two.
If you think your family is what Dodger is looking for, please have a preliminarily approved application on file before you contact his case manager.

SARA
North Hills, CA

|
ESRA #2007-0199CA
Age: 10 months
Gender: Female
Color: Liver/White
Weight: 33 lbs.
Variety: Field-bred
Sara was taken to an animal shelter because she was too active for the other dogs in her home. She came into ESRA's foster care on February 28th.
There was apparently little or no training in Sara's former life, so we're working on that. She's learning to Sit and Stay and is doing well on her house training as long as she has access to entry and exit from the house, like a doggie door.
Because of her youth and high energy, it's recommended that she not go to a home with small children just because, in her exuberence, she could knock them over. She's fine with, and loves, her foster mom's twelve-year-old grandson. Her adopter(s) will be required to enroll her in an obedience training class. Not only will this help with her training, but it's also a wonderful bonding experience for a dog and its owner. With her fieldie energy, she also might be a good candidate for agility training if her owner is interested.
Sara gets along fine with the three resident Springers in her foster home. She settles down nicely - especially if it can be in your lap. At night she sleeps on her foster mom's bed with one or two of the other dogs. She follows her foster mom all over, never more than a foot or two away. She'd be happiest in a home with another age-appropriate dog to play with; she gets along well with both male and female dogs. as well as all people. Cats are unknown, but with her energy I'd suggest no. She doesn't dig or chew and hasn't exhibited any separation anxiety - of course she's always with the resident Springers. She's OK on a leash (needs some work) and rides nicely in the back seat of a car. She's very eager to please and loving, and will give someone years of joy and companionship!
Sara has been spayed, is up to date on all her vaccinations, and is heartworm negative. She's just waiting for her Forever Home - could that be yours?
Please have an adoption application filled out and approved.

TAYLOR
Stanton, CA

|
ESRA #2008-0166CA
Age: 3 years
Gender: Male
Color: Tri-colored
Weight: 50 lbs.
Variety: Field-bred
Taylor is a handsome, tri-colored and energetic boy, who is eager to please! He has been waiting awhile for his new Forever Home.
When Taylor came to rescue from the Coachella Valley Shelter, he must have been in great pain. We found a toenail over 1-inch long embedded in his footpad. Our kind groomer quickly removed that, and Taylor has been feeling much better since his grooming session!
Taylor is ready to shower his new family with loyalty and affection! He loves belly rubs and to romp and play in a yard. Then, the very best thing is to settle down at your side.
Taylor's previous owners did not give him much training. He does a beautiful Sit and will do Down and offer his paw for a treat! He would benefit from further training with you.
Taylor is dominant with other dogs, so he would be best as the only dog in your home. No cats, please!
Are you the special person to share life with Taylor?
We believe Taylor is housetrained, and he is up to date on vaccinations, is heartworm negative, and microchipped.
Update 17 Apr 08:
Taylor wonders why he's having to wait so long to find a special person to love him?
He is a robust boy full of energy and fun. Taylor will thrive on as much attention as a wonderful new family could give him,and with some training, he would likely turn out to be the best dog you ever had ! He loves people, and children ten and up would do well with his athletic nature.
He also loves to just sit with you and get bellyrubs or be with you in quiet time.
Aren't you the one looking for a special friend like Taylor with whom to share the best of life?
Taylor is eagerly awaiting meeting you!
Pleae have a preliminarily approved application on file with ESRA before inquiring.

MONTANA
Bakersfield, CA

|
See Montana's Special Needs Page
ESRA #2007-1070CA Age: 1 year
Gender: Male
Color: Liver/White
Weight: 40 lbs.
Variety: Bench/Show-bred
This is Montana, a true Springer in all regards. He is young energetic boy (still very puppy active) who loves playing outside, but when inside will settle down content to just be near you. When you look into his big brown eyes be ready to fall in love. He has a great temperament and loves to give kisses.
Montana is food motivated, always looking to see if you have treats, but he is not food possessive. He knows basic commands like Sit, Stay and Not, and walks well on a leash. He learned his house manners quickly. He is a very smart boy, and it is requested that he be taken to obedience training so he can be the best he can be. Plus, it's a great bonding tool.
He doesn't like the crate. Sleeping next to your bed, or on it, is his preference. He'd also like to snuggle up on the couch with you. He loves to have his head, tummy, and back rubbed. He does well in the bathtub, and rides well in the car.
Although Montana is a very playful boy, he has little interest in balls or toys, but does like his rope. He gets along great with the resident Springer, and would do well with a playmate. He is fine with children of all ages, but because of his youth and activity level, may do better with those past the toddler stage. Cats are unknown. He loves being outside, so a doggie door is recommended so he can come and go as he pleases. We think he may have been an outside dog at his last home, but he's not telling.
Update 23 FEB 08: Montana 's search for his Forever Home has been delayed because he has been getting bloody noses. We finally found out what is causing them, and he will need time to recuperate. To read more about Montana and his condition go to his Special Needs page.
Update 25 MAR 08: Montana has completed all his treatments and is doing well. He will need to take medication for his condition, probably the rest of his life and be tested every four months to make sure his liver has no ill effects from the medication. We have arranged a discount from a pharmacy for his medication for his adopters.
Today you would never know Montana had been sick. He is the playful affectionate boy he has always been. He is looking for his Forever Family again. Could that be you?
Please have a preliminarily approved application on file before you inquire on Montana and then contact his case manager.

BELLA
Northridge, CA

|
ESRA #2007-862MI
Age: 2 years
Gender: Female
Color: Orange/White
Weight: 50 lbs.
Variety: Bench/Show-bred
Bella was born to a Springer mom in foster care in Michigan. Bella is a beautiful orange and white mix between a Springer and maybe a Golden Retriever. Bella was placed with a new family as a little puppy and did well until she had a seizure around age one. Returned by her first family, she traveled to California for foster care.
Bella has been seizure free for about three months now. She is taking medications to prevent her seizures. Bella needs to have other dogs around her, as she loves to have people and dog company. She loves to play in water of any type and makes quite a show in her water dish!
Sometimes Bella needs reminding about her house training manners, but we feel that is due to her medications.
The best thing about Bella is her loving nature. Bella gives great hugs and cuddles, and she gives great big rubbing-noses kisses! If you have room in your heart for a special needs girl, Bella will steal your heart forever.

Penny is a beautiful four-year-old field Springer, and loves to cuddle. She is active and playful, just like a young puppy. She is housetrained, smart, and a ball of energy. Penny loves to play ball, and tug-o-war.
She would love a home with at least one other dog. She loves to cuddle and to sleep in my arms, but is ready to play if I wake up! She is a happy, loving dog, who will make someone a wonderful pet.
Is that someone you?

BRUNO
Sacramento, CA

|
ESRA #2007-543CA
Age: Adult
Gender: Male
Color: Liver/White
Weight: 60 lbs.
Variety: Bench/Show-bred
Bruno is a sweet, mature, male Springer (7+ years old). He gets along well with other dogs and has the run of his foster home with two females.
He needs a patient and consistent new home where someone can spend some time developing his trust, and can continue his regular ear cleanings as Bruno has recovered from chronic ear infections.
Because he was in pain in the past, he is understandably a little fearful of groomers and vets, but with proper socializing, and positive experiences, we have seen him do better each time we groom him, and each time he goes to the vet office.
He is a great companion and indoor pet. He is housetrained and enjoys going on walks.
Please send me an email to meet Bruno!

TAYLOR
Colorado Springs, CO

|
ESRA # 2008-0372CO
Age: 3-4 years
Gender: Male
Color: Black/White
Weight: 35 lbs.
Variety: Field-Bred
Hi my name is Taylor and I was found wandering the streets, so no one knows anything about my past. I am a very friendly guy who loves everybody and gets along well with other dogs. I like my foster Dad's daughter and her friends, who are 10 years old. I seem to have a fixation on cats, so cats are a no-no for me.
Since my name is new to me. I am still learning to respond to it. My foster Dad says I walk really great on a leash, but my new owners would do well to enroll me in a basic obedience class. I am house trained and do not counter surf. I do well in my doggie crate. I love to ride in cars. I have a moderate energy level for a springer and like to play with balls. This could be why I have a broken canine tooth.

STRIPER
Calhan, CO

|
ESRA # 2008-0285NE
Age: Senior
Gender: Male
Color: Liver/White
Weight: 52 lbs.
Variety: Field-Bred
Heeeere's.......Striper!! Striper is not your usual older gentleman. You would never guess from his spry steps and his gorgeous appearance that he is getting up in years. He is a very gentle dog in spite of dealing with some pretty harsh living conditions most of his life. Even with the difficulties of his previous life he is still the sweetest and most loving dog you could ever meet. He had firecrackers thrown into his kennel in the early years, which of course, made him very gun shy. In his day he was also a hunting champion! Striper is an AKC registered dog, but he doesn't let that go to his head!! He loves all other dogs, in fact he has spent quite a few of the past years sharing his kennel with a beautiful French Brittany Spaniel, and they are the best of friends! Striper is also good with cats and loves children. He is a very social dog and enjoys people of all ages! He loves attention and as a typical Springer, feels he can never get enough!!
But what's not to love about a dog who is easy going, obedient, playful and friendly! Striper also rides well in a car and walks very nicely on a leash, no pulling at all. So he would be happy to go with you anywhere! He is house trained, though he hasn't spent much time indoors lately, before being taken into rescue. In his younger years he might have been known to climb out of his 8 ft. kennel. But now that he's a bit more settled in life, I don't think that would be so much of a problem.
Striper's previous owner had to leave town and wasn't able to take Striper and his friend Brittany along, so they had to stay behind with a very kind neighbor watching out for them. This special dog just needs a lot of love and attention in his remaining years to let him know how much love he still has to give and what a VID (Very Important Dog) we know that he is!!! Can you take Striper into your heart and your home to give him the love that he deserves?
Please call about Striper today!

ESRA # 2008-0337CO - Daisy
Age: 8 years
Gender: Male & Female
Color: Black/White
Weight: 50 & 40 lbs.
Variety: Field-bred
We are up for adoption together. Our Foster Mom says we are so close, we are like one dog.
Moe:
"I am very friendly, but more laid back than my Sister. Getting pets is also a favorite activity for me and I especially like ladies. I am well behaved, housetrained and know basic commands, such as sit, no, come.I zig and zag a bit onleash, but stay close on offleash walks. I get along well with other dogs. "
Daisy:
"I am very friendly, especially once I get to know you. I love to be close to my people and get lots of pets.that is the greatest. I just love to be hugged and held. I would rather get pets than play with toys. I love to be outside and run and play, but stay close when off leash and come when called. I also walk well on leash. I am a good girl around the house and am housetrained. I love my brother, but can be a little defensive with other large males until I get to know them. "
Both:
"Since we came from a shelter, our Foster Mom doesn't have any history for us with kids or cats, so our best placement would be with an adult household. Our energy level is moderate. Times have been a bit rough and we are on the thin side, but are working to get back to a normal weight. We are happy to ride in cars and will actually fall asleep on a longer ride. "
This bonded pair will only be placed together.

ALFRED
Denver, CO

|
ESRA #2008-0084CO
Age: 3-4 years
Gender: Male
Color: Liver/White
Weight: 40 lbs.
Variety: Bench/Show-bred
Alfred is a very friendly happy boy who loves to play with his dolly. He likes to play tug and fetch with a ball. He likes everyone he meets. He is incredibly sweet and gentle. If he knows you, he will get excited and TALK to you, to greet you. In spite of hip and knee issues he loves his walks and gets excited and barks when it is time to go. He walks well on a leash and comes when called.
He is good with other dogs, but wants to share the attention. He just loves to snuggle. Alfred would do well in an adult family or one with older children, since he is so gentle. His foster Mom thinks he is close to the perfect family dog. We do not have any history on him with cats. He is crate trained and seems ready to ride in cars. Alfred is a very eager eater and drinker.
Alfred just had surgery to correct his hip and knee problems and is learning to use his NEW joints. Inspite of his problems, Alfred has learned to use the stairs.what spirit! Another surgery is planned for June to make his other side good as new. Once his other knee and hip are repaired, Alfred will be ready to run. Alfred is looking forward to life with out pain and a family who will share that life with him.

ZEB
Parker, CO

|
ESRA #2008-0090UT
Age: 7 months
Gender: Male
Color: Liver/White
Weight: 30 lbs.
Variety: Field-bred
Come on over and meet little Zeb!! He is about the cutest Springer puppy you could ever want to meet. He is just full of Springer love and fun! Zeb is a very good boy, he minds his manners and listens well to his foster mom, especially for still being a puppy!! Zeb is very mild mannered in the house and outside, he is just a little skinny from his time alone, before he went to the shelter, and still needs to gain back some weight. Zeb's foster mom says that he settled into her home very quickly, and found life inside a warm house really great! She also said he was the easiest foster dog she has had so far, not bad credentials for such a young boy!!
Zeb is very friendly and playful with other dogs. He has two foster brothers and he has no problem letting them boss him around. Zeb enjoys being the little brother. He especially loves curling up to sleep along side one of his older brothers. Zeb is sweet, sweet, sweet according to his foster mom!
Last weekend at a local hockey game in the park, Zeb was glued to his foster mom's side.....until some very interesting dogs passing by, finally enticed him to try and make some new friends! Zeb really loves affection from his foster mom and anyone else who is offering. He will climb into his foster mom's lap to snuggle and he will stay there as long as he possibly can. Zeb considers himself a lap dog and will be very happy to keep you warm on these cold winter nights. If you would like some sweet puppy love in your life, Zeb is definitely the dog for you!!

 ROOTY
Westminster, CO

|
ESRA #2007-651UT
Age: 6 years
Gender: Female
Color: Liver/White
Weight: 40 lbs.
Variety: Field-bred
Please meet Rooty! She is the sweetest dog ever, just like rooty-tooty-fruity candy!! Rooty has been an outside dog because her previous owner didn't want her in the house. But who wants to stay outside when all the fun is inside? Besides, Rooty felt like most dogs do, she is just like all the other people in the family and she should be able to live in the house too!!
Now that she is in rescue, Rooty loves being an inside dog and living the good life like she always felt she deserved! She roams free in the house and never has an accident. Rooty has a new haircut, so she is feeling a little bit chilly in the cold weather, but her foster mom has assured her it will soon grow back very nicely!
Rooty is a pleaser and only wants to be with her people! She is very good in her crate and completely housetrained already. She is a very smart dog and learns quickly. She can be a little bit growly when meeting new dogs, but she learns to love all of them in a very short time. Rooty is a true velcro dog who sticks by you always! She will love you forever if you can just give her the love and attention she so richly deserves!

KITTY
Parker, CO

|
ESRA # 2008-0143CO
Age: 7 years
Gender: Female
Color: Liver/White
Weight: 40 lbs.
Variety: Field-Bred
Kitty is such a little cutie, it is hard to believe that we found her in a shelter. Kitty responds well to both men and women, and likes to be pampered and petted. She especially likes to curl up in your lap for pets and loves. She would do well in a home with either adults or older children. Miss Kitty loves walks, and has shown some interest in toys. She is a petite little girl (although she could lose a couple of pounds), and is wary of highly active dogs, cats, or children. She appreciates the quiet life.
Miss Kitty comes when called, stays right with you when walked off leash, and does not pull when walked on leash. She is well behaved and respectful. She is looking for a home where she can be someone's spoiled little princess.

BUGSY
Parker, CO

|
ESRA #2007-399UT
Age: 7 years
Gender: Male
Color: Black/White
Weight: 43 lbs.
Variety: Bench/Show-Bred
Don't let the seven-year age, fool you, I am a strong and lively boy. I just love long walks and am looking to find a family who enjoys them, too. I have learned to Sit and Shake for treats. My house training is excellent and I love to ride in cars
Once I get to know you, I am a very loving, affectionate boy. If you want a Springer who will snuggle with you, be devoted and give you kisses, then I am your Boy . I have to admit I am a Ladies Man. I just love it, when my Foster Mom has her lady friends over. I turn on the charm and work the room, going from lady to lady, giving kisses and asking for pets. Many ladies have said that if they could adopt a dog, they would adopt me. They say I have a great personality. I also enjoy helping my Foster Mom bake and cook in the kitchen. OK, so I counter surf a little bit….but since I am short, she can put things in the back where I can't reach them.
I get along well with other dogs, who are submissive. As a bench bred-boy, I didn't know anything about hunting when I came to my foster home. My little “fieldie” foster sisters have shown me the ropes, and now I enjoy looking for bunnies, squirrels, birds and deer in our neighborhood. I would do best in an adult home where one of the family members is home a majority of the time. If I could find a forever family like that, I would be the happiest dog in the world!

SPORT
Coeur d'Alene, ID

|
ESRA # 2008-0371ID
Age: 4 years
Gender: Male
Color: Black/White
Weight: 55 lbs.
Variety: Field-bred
Sport is the ultimate family dog. He is all about being part of family outings, whether it's hanging out at a barbeque or while you rake the yard. He loves Foster Mom, Dad, and kids. He is very friendly and comfortable with everyone and wants to be part of the action.
He tends to follow Foster Mom around during the day, and goes from family member to family member for attention. He's very good with the young kids (4 years old) although maybe a bit rambunctious for the toddler.
Sport does marvellously well with other dogs, even the soon-to-be-neutered Chihuahua who is romancing him all the time and an older Border Collie who wants nothing to do with him. He is friendly and happy and has never gotten in a fight.
Sport does not do well with other animals, though. Please, no cats, as Sport stalks them. He almost killed a chicken and has gotten into trouble with the potbellied big and goats. Just other dogs, please!
Sport has very nice manners. He comes when called, even if he is in the middle of chasing the cat. He listens well and wants to please. He knows sit and does it a lot. He does not know stay, as I found out when trying to take his picture. He will sit, and then scoot over to you for love. He is housetrained and gets in no trouble.
He is very good off-leash, although we don't let him off-leash for long periods this new in foster care. When he is out of the fenced yard and off a leash, he stays very close and has great recall.
We got Sport from a Boise-area shelter. He was turned in by his owner for being too hyper. Although Sport is energetic, he settles down well and really listens. The owner must not have been suited for a Springer, because this is a NICE dog. He is neutered and up to date on vaccinations, and is in good health. He's athletic and muscular and right at his perfect weight. He was so matted that I had to shave his entire coat off, but his fur is very soft and will grow back nicely.
What Sport would like more than anything is time with his family. He is extremely loving. He will run around with you outside and then cuddle up at your side and rest his head in your lap. He will be a good addition to a family, however we have decided that Sport would do better with older kids, ages ten and up, only. He has been playful and mouthy, and needs more training. He is also more exuberant as he gets comfortable, and just too bouncy for younger kids.

APOLLO
Idaho Falls, ID

|
ESRA # 2008-0379ID
Age: 2 years
Gender: Male
Color: Liver/White
Weight: 37 lbs.
Variety: Field-bred
Every once in a while, we get a bad abuse and neglect case. That's the case with Apollo. We don't have the whole story about Apollo's past. All we know is that he is skinny, scared, and needed some training. When we first got him, we were appalled by the condition of his coat. He was covered in urine and feces and mats. We were told that he didn't work out as a hunting dog and was going to be euthanized, so someone stepped in to help him, but he still needed more help. He entered ESRA foster care on April 25.
Apollo is a timid, Velcro dog who is craving some positive attention. He is a shadow to his foster mom, and follows her from room to room. He just can't get enough of her, and jumps up a lot to say hello. When it comes to men, Apollo is much more fearful. Once he knows you, he is very affectionate. He is timid but NEVER aggressive with people, even when he is very scared.
He will go in a crate if needed and will sleep there, but he prefers to sleep on the floor next to the bed. He does fine outside in the yard during the day and is learning the house rules. He loves to ride in the car and does not need to be crated.
He would do best as either the only dog, or with a nice dog his own size. Small dogs are not for Apollo. He has a very high prey drive and it extends to small dogs, as well as cats. He found a little muskrat at the river and successfully killed it.
Apollo has not been fed adequate amounts of food until now, and it shows. He is malnourished. He is also very food-motivated and will eat dog food constantly. If you leave something yummy on the counter, it will be gone. He would need to be fed away from other dogs. All he thinks about is eating. We are trying to put weight on him.
Apollo did very good at the Vets. He is very timid around men, but the Receptionists and Vet Techs (girls) he went right up to. He didn't like having his blood drawn, (the Vet had to draw blood from the neck, as he didn't think he could get much from a leg vein due to Apollo's thinness) but he didn't become aggressive at all. Urine, fecal and blood tests will be back soon.
According to the Vet, on a scale of 1 to 5 - one being the lowest, poor Apollo is only a 1.5 as far as body weight. The Vet said he is very, very thin. He weighs 37.3 lbs.
However, on the bright side, he said that other than low weight, his overall condition is still good. His eyes are clear, his energy level is still high, his coat is still relatively healthy, and his ears only have minor irritation, no infection. He said his health was just beginning to decline due to the starvation. So, at least we got him before it started causing health deterioration. The Vet said that Apollo would do well with some hamburgers and steaks in his diet - I swear Apollo perked up at this idea.... so it looks like Mr. Apollo will be getting spoiled this weekend.....
Dr. Francis did say that he should probably be shaved completely, due to the matting of his fur; in fact, he had trouble even finding a spot to draw blood because he is so matted around the chest. Dr. Francis wanted to wait to do any vaccinations till the test results came back, and Apollo puts on some weight.
Update, 05 MAY 08: Apollo is still very skinny, even after 10 days of non-stop food; but will continue to gain weight in time. Apollo got groomed by his foster mom. He sat through 3-1/2 hours of clipping without much hassle, even though it was clear he didn't want to be there!
He is officially house-trained to a dog door now - the smart little guy. He loves the water. He tries to take a shower with his foster mom all the time. Now that they have had some warm days, he has been playing in the river on the daily walks.
He is already patrolling/protecting the yard at night, and is doing a good job keeping the birds and squirrels at bay. He takes that job very seriously.
He is still terrified of the teenage son in the household, and won't come anywhere near him. However, he did go up to a man and his dog while we were walking the park one day. He is a snuggler and a little shadow when it comes to his foster mom!
We'll update on Apollo's progress as he continues to learn house manners and becomes more confident. We are excited to update as he gains weight and gets groomed, too.

MAX
Coeur d'Alene, ID

|
ESRA # 2008-0294WA
Age: 8 years
Gender: Male
Color: Liver/White
Weight: 40 lbs.
Variety: Bench/Show-bred
If Max could have anything in the world, he would want more time with his family. This loyal, devoted dog lives for his family and wishes for more time to be together. Max's family is re-homing him because they have been hoping over the last year that their lives would calm down, but they haven't. They feel that Max needs a home with more companionship.
Max's family writes, When we first got Max, our girls were younger and we were home a lot more than we are now. Now our kids are involved in year round sports and we will soon be gone every weekend to various tournaments. He gets very lonely when we are gone, if even just during the day. He deserves a better life than what we are able to provide. Our vet says that he has a great life with us, but I know that Max deserves better. Our girls will be devastated to give him up, but we can't have Max for our convenience. He is very loving and kind and smart and deserves a constant companion. If he could live with someone who is home a lot, and would take him with him/her when they go places and that lives in the country so he could run a bit each day, he would be the happiest dog in the world. There has to be somebody who needs Max just as much as he needs them. He just wants to be with someone who will give him attention and that will see him as important and wonderful. He is an extraordinary dog and deserves an extraordinary companion who understands Springers.
When we are gone during the day, he will wait by the window and not eat or drink until we get home, even after many hours away. This kills me to know he just waits for us to come home, especially when we do not pay much attention to him when we get home. He doesn't like to spend anytime outside in the backyard unless someone is back there with him. He just really wants to be with us wherever we are.
After reading their words, you can see why they are thinking about re-homing him. As Rescue Coordinators, we are looking for a home where someone needs a companion. Max's ideal situation would be with a retired couple or person where he spent quality time inside and also outside, going on car rides, etc. Max will happily follow you anywhere and loves outings. He's housetrained and wonderful in the house.
Max does best as the only dog, as that is what he's used to. No cats for Max, please! Max didn't pan out as a hunting dog, but he does have the hunting instincts as far as cats. Max is great with school-age kids, although we haven't seen him with toddlers. Max usually sleeps with the girls on their beds or on a blanket in one of their rooms.
He has not been crated, as he is so good in the house. He does not need to be. He does sleep on the furniture but that has been allowed. He loves to cuddle!
The adoptive family reports that their relatives have a cabin in the woods near Sandpoint where they can just let Max run. He is truly at his happiest there and does stay our for along time by himself, just exploring.
Max is a very healthy dog who has been taken care of the last four years, since he's been with his present family. He's had everything he's ever needed, and is up to date on everything and has had a dental. He has some gray around his eyes, but don't let that fool you into thinking he is an old dog. Max has unlimited energy to run and play and explore. Max loves to swim and he loves walks!
Max's current family will be part of the adoption screening process. They would like to interview the prospective families after we do our interview. They are looking for just the right fit. I can imagine how they feel. They want him to have the best circumstances possible, even if it is somewhere else.
If you know Springers, you know the classic VELCRO type, and that is Max. Please help us find a home where he can be the center of someone's world.

SOPHIE
Boise, ID

|
ESRA # 2007-806ID
Age: Senior
Gender: Female
Color: Liver/White
Weight: 45 lbs.
Variety: Field-bred
Sophie is a relaxed lady who likes the easy life: dog beds, cuddling, short walks, playing with a ball, etc. Sophie is a lovely gal from the Moscow, ID shelter. She was found as a stray off of Highway 95.
Sophie enjoys other dogs and cats, but is kind of shy and prefers to have some one-on-one human attention. We think she would do well in a home with another dog or by herself. She has nice manners and knows basic commands. Sophie is housetrained and doesn't get into any trouble.
She was quite matted so she has been totally shaved down. She is fairly healthy now after rescue gave her a makeover. She is up to date on everything, spayed, had a dental, and negative for heartworm or parasites. She does have low thyroid and will just require thyroid meds for the rest of her life.
She also has arthritis and does very well with glucosamine daily and Rimadyl when needed. Sometimes she lies on a heating pad and just loves it during these cold times. Her foster family bought some little steps for her to go up on the bed to cuddle. Sophie has some constipation at times and we're trying to get her routine figured out. She's lost weight since going on the thyroid meds and she loves to walk. She is so disappointed when the walk is over. Like all our ESRA dogs, Sophie is a primarily indoor companion who also loves the outdoors.
Sophie is easy to love and easy to live with. Her gentle personality and love of the simple things in life make her a wonderful companion.
Update 10 FEB 08: Sophie has Diabetes Insipidus, a condition that is managed by medication. She does drink more water and urinate more frequently than the average dog, but is doing very well. She is really enjoying playing in the snow and giving Barney, the 1 year old resident dog, a run for his money during play time! Sophie is now at her perfect weight of 45 pounds. When she first came to rescue in October, she weighed 59 pounds. She's made great progress!

Age: 7 years
Gender: Female
Color: Liver/White
Weight: 34 lbs.
Variety: Field-bred
Spicy is a quiet, laid-back, petite girl. She enjoys her walks; her nose is in constant pursuit of the next great smell. She is also content just hanging out with her humans. She's not big into toys, but she adores cuddles! She gets along just fine with other dogs and would also be happy as an only dog.
She enjoys car rides, walks well on a leash, is house trained and has great house manners. She comes promptly when called but doesn't know many other commands.. yet. She's smart and is picking up on things quickly.
Spicy just made the long trek from Kansas to her foster home in New Mexico. So while she's interested in what lies beyond, she'd prefer to make NM her permanent home. If you'd like to offer Spicy your home forever, please fill out an application before contacting us. If it looks like you'd be the best match for Spicy, you must be willing travel to Albuquerque to meet her.

She's a smart, curious and mild-mannered dog with good house manners. She loves taking walks and romping in safe off-leash areas. She's not much for balls and toys. She enjoys hanging out in her crate or bed, craves car rides and is house trained. Grooming is a cinch with her silky easy-care coat.
So don't delay in filling out an application if you are interested in adopting Sydney or one of her puppies. If it looks like you'd be the best match for one of them, you must be willing travel to Albuquerque.

HUNTER
Houston, TX

|
ESRA #2008-0334TX
Age: 7 years
Gender: Male
Color: Liver/White
Weight: 81 lbs.
Variety: Bench/Show-bred
It's no wonder Hunter is a strong, confident and proud Springer- his mom says he comes from a champion bloodline! Hunter has received lots of love during his life, but sadly his mom must now find a new home for him.
Hunter is an excellent dog! He is very smart and already knows basic commands. He's housetrained, crate trained and loves to play! Hunter behaves fine around other dogs, but he's rather indifferent and would probably be fine as an only dog. All he really wants is LOTS and LOTS of love and attention from his people! Hunter loves to cuddle up or he's happy just hanging out with you! Being a confident Springer, Hunter will thrive in an environment where he is given some simple rules and boundaries.
Hunter is not high energy, but he does need some exercise. He would benefit physically and emotionally from daily walks or runs at the dog park. Ideally, he should weigh 60-65 lbs.
If you're looking for a LOVING COMPANION and BEST FRIEND, Hunter is the dog for you! Please send us your application today!

Age: 11 months
Gender: Male
Color: Liver/White
Weight: 43 lbs.
Variety: Bench/Show-bred
Look at this cute little boy someone took to the shelter!! Just another case of people not understanding the needs of dogs, which is very sad.
Dexter is a snuggly baby needing lots of love, attention, and reassurance. He is playful, and gets along great with other dogs. He doesn't know how to walk on a leash, and is in need of some basic training, but Dexter is very eager to please YOU! He would probably feel comfort by the company of another dog if you work during the day, and I know he would enjoy a playmate!
Won't you give Dexter a chance at a new life? Fill out an application today! This cute little boy will go fast!

TUCKER
Austin, TX

|
ESRA #2008-0296TX
Age: 7-8 years
Gender: Male
Color: Liver/White
Weight: 55 lbs.
Variety: Field-bred
Hi y'all, my name is Tucker. My family decided to drop me off at the shelter because I was always left in the backyard and no one paid any attention to me. How sad you may say, but I think that perhaps it was meant to be because I love it here in my foster home with my canine foster sister. I get along with other dogs and with all the people I meet, but I'm still untested with cats.
My favorite thing is to go for walks and I know how to behave well when I'm on my leash. I especially love to go to the park! I'd make an excellent walking companion for somebody. My foster mom says I'm a really good dog, even though I've never had obedience training. I'm housetrained, know how to use the doggie door, and know better than to chew on anything I'm not supposed to.
I'm a very friendly and happy sort and love to be near my people.snuggling is my specialty.
Before you can be considered as a Forever Family for Tucker, you must first submit an Adoption Application on this site. After the application has been submitted, you may contact Tucker's case manager.

O'BRIEN
Austin, TX

|
ESRA #2008-0051TX
Age: 4-5 years
Gender: Male
Color: Liver/White
Weight: 46 lbs.
Variety: Bench/Show-bred
My name is O'Brien and I'm a true Irish gentleman. At least that's what my foster mom says. Since I'm feeling much better now, I thought it was time for me to introduce myself. I've completed my heartworm treatment and am healthy and feeling chipper with the luck of the Irish!
I'm loyal and smart, and my foster mom says I'm a gentle soul. I have a calm and playful personality with nice manners too! I like to play ball and boy, do I love to swim! I'm housetrained, crate trained, come when I'm called, sit and shake for my treats, ride well in the car, and don't jump up on people. I like everyone, get along well with other dogs, and even tolerate cats. I'd like to find a "forever" family that will play and cuddle with me and teach me new games. One that will love me, take me for nature walks and let me hang out with them in the house. If this sounds like you, I'm ready to be your new best friend.
I really love it here in my foster home with the other dogs where I get to go run in the field, play catch, and go swimming in the creek. But, I'm looking for my very own family to play with, who will snuggle with me and take care of me forever. Do you have a place in your heart for me?
P.S. Before you can be considered as a Forever Family for me, you must first submit an Adoption Application on this site. After the application has been submitted, you may contact my foster mom.

HANNAH
Austin, TX

|
ESRA #2008-0376TX
Age: 4 years
Gender: Female
Color: Liver/White
Weight: 35 lbs.
Variety: Field-bred
Meet darling Hannah. She's as sweet as they come! Hannah came to ESRA via the shelter because her owner had to be hospitalized on a regular basis for long periods and had no way to care for her.
Hannah is a precious little Springer with a calm and playful personality. She is elegant and dainty, but enjoys running and playing with her bigger foster brothers. This little squirt can hold her own with the big dogs. She is crate trained, housetrained, comes when she's called, likes to go for rides in the car, and sits politely at attention for her treats. Snuggling and sitting in her foster mom's lap are two of her favorite things. She loves to be with her people and is a typical Springer following you from room to room.
Hannah would love to find a forever family with another dog to play with, but could also do well as an only dog. She gets along well with other dogs, but is untested with cats. Hannah is great with kids, but prefers kids that are older who can run and play games with her.
Before you can be considered as a Forever Family for Hannah, you must first submit an Adoption Application on this site. After the application has been submitted, you may contact Hannah's foster mom.

 OLLIE
Dallas, TX

|
ESRA #2008-0382TX
Age: 7-8 years
Gender: Male
Color: Liver/White
Weight: 54 lbs.
Variety: Bench/Show-bred
Ollie is the picture of an English gentleman. Just look at that face! He is a curly-headed fella sporting a long tail. Ollie has just arrived in our care, so we're all still getting acquainted. We'll post pictures of the new Ollie after his visit.
Ollie is an pitiful case of severe neglect. His coat was so horribly matted carrying a horrible stench. His ears were so infected we had to sedate him to clean them thoroughly and medicate them. They are now on the mend, and he's already feeling so, so much better, probably better than he's felt in years. Ollie was also diagnosed with a tick-borne disease called Ehrlichia. The vet has started him on a series of antibiotics and expect full recovery in a matter of weeks.
We hope you will consider opening your heart and home up to Ollie.

 BUCKLEY
Dallas, TX

|
ESRA #2008-0383TX
Age: 5 years
Gender: Male
Color: Liver/White
Weight: 48 lbs.
Variety: Bench/Show-bred
Are you looking for a little romance in your life? Well, you've found the Romeo of your dreams! This gorgeous boy LOVES to hold hands. When you're sitting in front of him, he reaches out his paw for you to hold and will sit there for an eternity. After a while, he'll let go and then reach out his other paw for you to hold. He is such a tender and sweet dog.
Buckley was abandoned by his owners at a shelter because they were moving into an apartment. As we so often see here in Texas, Buckley has been neglected and is heartworm positive and will need to be treated. He would love to recover from the treatment in his Forever Home, if possible. He is up-to-date on routine shots, and has been neutered.
We are just getting to know Buckley. He is very quiet and calm, and still very tentative in his new surroundings. We'll update his bio and pictures soon.
